Secrets of Rose Cottage

On looking through some old paperwork I came across this news cutting.

This is going back to 1986 when I awoke one morning   to find a letter in my post box from my sister; on opening it I found a scrap of paper  (above if you click the picture it will enlarge for you to read) and nothing else in the envelope. When I read the article I had a good chuckle to myself and then never really gave it much thought except to note that it did state my then current address, must have been a misprint!.
Later that day I got a call from my mum who started by telling me how disappointed and how disgusted she was with me!  how could I do something like this! She went on and on and I could not get a word in edge ways so I ended up hanging up and immediately called my sister who had called my mum that morning to read out the said article. She also believed it was me in the article.😞

At first I was speechless and then was really upset that both my mother and sister thought that this was me!!!

As you can see the address is “Rose Cottage” and yes I did live there but I was 33 at the time not 51 as the article suggested (my sis and mum obviously missed this fact).

Turned out that there was another Rose Cottage at the other side of the village where this was going on.

I was forgiven but I stayed cross for awhile as you can imagine. Now I can have a good chuckle.

A bit of Lamination

I love reading and have sometimes up to four books on the go, occasionally I find a book that needs my full attention and if it's hard going I may have to leave it for a while and find something lighter to read.  I truly dislike giving up on books. Anyway  I got so fed up with just having pieces of card or scraps of paper to mark my place, I decided to make some books markers that are not only cute but practical to boot.

Found these on graphicsfairy site and they are gorgeous

These gorgeous Edwardian costumes from ArtCult on Etsy
Again the same ones from Artcult but did them in what I can only describe as atmospheric black & white.

This was an embroidery pattern I bought for a project and decided would be fun to make these up for a few creative friends
These I made for AimeBroiderie on Etsy, great idea for a little promotion
Can't decide whether to add an eyelet & ribbon or leave as they are

Love the sepia tones
My first attempt with printing on candles, really fun to do, only burnt myself once (more than sufficient)
  tissue printed on candles

A  wee tartan Mouse Pin Cushion, nothing to do with lamination! Cute though

Peyriac de Mer Christmas Day 2016

We decided that for Christmas we were going to head of in our old camper, we choose Peyriac-de-Mer as a couple of friends of ours who stayed with us last summer spent a night there and loved it. We were not disappointed as the weather was glorious, blue skies and sunshine with a slight breeze, perfect for walking.
At Peyriac de Mer you can either keep on the boardwalks around the old salt pans  or take the longer, higher option around the ridge above the Etang de Doul, we did both.
I was not expecting to see Flamingos in December, nor Pelicans neither of which I have seen in the flesh before. Although the flamingos were well back from the land the  fact that they were still pink made them more visible, and as we had binoculars managed to get a good look at them. We saw around 30 Pelicans and I never knew they were so graceful in flight.
